Abstract

To determine the recommended blood pressure (BP) measurement methods in newborns after systematically reviewing the literature on the appropriate size of the BP cuff and the location and method of measurement. Methodology A bibliographic search was carried out in MEDLINE, PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and CINAHL from 1946 to 2017 on BP in newborns <3 months of age (PROSPERO ID CRD42018092886). Study data were extracted and analyzed with a separate analysis of the Bland-Altman studies that compared measurement methods.
