Abstract

Apgar ratingAfter 30 seconds of manual ventilation with a face mask and anesthetic bag, this 27-week-old baby is intubated for persistent apnea to ensure airway ventilation and oxygenation. All the time your heart rate has been above 100 beats per minute and you receive an inspired fraction of oxygen (FiO2) from 0.4 to 1 st. Minute of life, Apgar score was 3/10 (2 for heart rate, 1 for muscle tone and 0 for color, reflexes and respiratory effort). At 5 minutes of life, Apgar score is 8/10 (2 for heart rate, reflexes and respiratory effort, 1 for color and muscle tone).- What is the comparative value of the Apgar score in this child?
